Trip Overview

Criminal justice and social justice draw students who want to understand power, fairness and reform in the real world rather than the abstract. Jamaica offers a compact, accessible legal landscape in which courts, police, correctional services, restorative justice practitioners and human rights advocates all sit within reach of one another.

Developed with the University of the West Indies, local agencies and community organisations, this ten day program gives students firsthand exposure to a working Caribbean justice system. Through institutional visits, professional dialogue and supervised community engagement, students examine how law, policy and social change interact, and how restorative and community based approaches sit alongside traditional enforcement.
