Trip Overview

Health professions and public health are among the fastest growing fields in study abroad, and the Caribbean offers an unusually rich classroom. Jamaica carries one of the world’s heavier burdens of non communicable disease, yet delivers care through a resourceful, community oriented system anchored by the University of the West Indies and a network of clinics and health centers.

Over ten days students examine the social determinants of health, observe community medicine in practice and engage directly with the structures that shape Caribbean health outcomes. The program pairs faculty led academic sessions with supervised community fieldwork, giving students a comparative, globally relevant grounding in how health systems respond to chronic disease with limited resources.
